Shared Services Optimisation for Hunstman Tioxide

Huntsman Tioxide is one of the world’s largest producers of titanium dioxide pigments. Working with Atos Origin, Huntsman optimised its Shared Services for its European operation, introducing ePayables to generate significant cost savings and efficiencies.

The issues:

The titanium dioxide industry is highly competitive. Huntsman Tioxide needed to reduce its administration and support costs
The challenge was to reduce costs by 70 per cent, process invoices faster and deliver greater data integrity

Our approach:

Huntsman Tioxide replaced its old systems with a common SAP based infrastructure across the company and created an SSC to standardise the purchase to pay and order to cash processes as well as financial reporting
Atos Consulting was asked to implement its leading ePayables solution which is made up of three components: data capture, process and payment
Atos Consulting also developed the outsourced processing of paper invoices through a BPO service and the processing of electronic invoices.

The benefits:

Within the first six months, over 50 per cent of invoices were processed automatically, forecast to increase to 70 per cent
Improved cash flow management, ensuring issues are highlighted by the system in time for corrective action to be taken
Remaining staff transferred from low value transaction processing to exception management
Paper storage costs reduced as invoices destroyed once scanned. The invoice image and data is used for processing and is then retained electronically
Pay back was delivered within 12 months of go-live.
